George, makes perfect sense now. I tightened the lever this morning and it no longer slips! When I reassemble something after having it all apart and something doesnt work I always assume the worst.
With the new carb, going from wide open to idle there isnt much play before the engine breaks up. I assume thats where the adjustmenrt of the high/low on the carb comes into play which is likely my next step. Thanks for your patience. |

Indeed, you mentioned it last night and it was #1 on my to-do list this morning. Thank you, just drove it around the yard a bit and it held tight.

I'm having the exact same issue, and to boot, my Choke likes to engage itself.
I got the motor started, the throttle dances all over the place on its own, I disengage the choke, but every 30-45 seconds or so it starts to push the choke knob back out about 1/4 the way, and I have to shove it back in. My governor must be way out of whack too because at full throttle on the lever I don't get full throttle on the carb unless I pull it on the carb by hand. When the engine is off the lever commands full range of motion though. When I rev it by hand to full it sounds like I'm wayyy over revving it. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
