Jeff if you are referring to the spline on the flywheel side looks to me like it will unbolt and you can bolt on the correct three pin drive plate.

Default Jeffscub 12 hp engine

Hey, have you unbolted the pan on that ferguson engine yet? I believe that you'll be in for a big, BIG, surprise. The Cub Cadet pan won't bolt up. That's a wide-base engine and the Cub's engine is a narrow-base. Like trying to bolt a Ford oil pan on a Chevy. The PTO shaft ends are different diameters and maybe lengths also. I think you are looking at a migraine-sized headache here. Not trying to be a nay-sayer, just that some things are more work than they are worth in the end. 'Nough said.

Happy Cubbing, FFGino.

the motor had weird looking mounts (look in my thread he shoot, he scores!!!!). they bolted to the motor BLOCK not the pan. the pan on the 12 bolted up in the cub with NO modifications, other than i had to take the original grill out so the QL would exhaust out the front. i did not want to cut it, as i plan on adding a stack later on. this engine is almost the exact identical to the one in my 77 1200. the guy who i got the motor from even showed me a picture of the MF, but there wasn't any way to tell how it bolted in the MF frame. i can tell you that the kohler out lasted the MF tractor. also not to keep but the 12hp kohler in my dads economy powerking is real close to being identical also other than the PK has a very deep oil pan unlike the cub oil pan! sorry, i learn more everyday from this bunch telling me to "just get out and do it!" jeff

If you put a narrow pan on this wide pan engine you might want to check here to make sure the blocks not milled out most are for a dip stick.

I see it don't have a plug for a fill tube so it might not be milled out.

hard for me to bleive you bolted a narrow pan to a wide pan without mods but I have never had a pan off a MF

From his pictures, it appears the engine originally had the 'A' style pan on it, so he wouldn't have had to change anything.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
