Lacquer thinner has yielded the best results for me.
I washed out the plastic tank on a Porsche 928 with it that had been sitting for a decade or so, black plastic tank, no harm done. I'm assuming that any plastic that will hold gas is also resistant to the thinner.

Clean
Thanks for all the input. I called several companies today to hear their recommendations, and ideas. I settled on Purple Power, swished around, short soak, and thorough rinse.
