I guess for now I'll just put it in the collection with the 25 or so other cubs. Maybe come spring I'll take it to pa plow days and play.

Thumbs up

That's a great save! I love going there and finding any good garden tractor, then I trade them for Cub Cadets too! I got my 1211 out of the scrap dump and the darn thing runs and drives super!

That 124 missed two bullets!
Not being scrapped and not becoming a puller.

Great save. I wonder how many the scrapyards have taken over the years?

Hey alvy , saw your comment on the column. Got a question, did they ever put the taller column on from the factory? My dads 104 has the same one, when I did the resto it looked like it was the first time it was out. I know the tractors history for the last 30yrs and it’s always had it....

After I looked more closely at this 124 it does look like the column has been replaced. Would they have used a column from a wide frame? I probably would have never noticed if it wasn't brought up

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
