Axles also snap on hurried unloadings!!! A friend of mine was in a hurry to unload a 124 because the rearend slipped off of the ramps while unloading, so he got in the truck and stomped on the gas.......result, a snapped front axle!!! They are tough lil' tractors but sometimes you just need to HWC....

It looks like the belt wore a groove in the axle to me. The guy said he was unloading it off his trailer and it just broke. My 128 had a broke front axle on it when I got that one too.

I snaped the one one my grandfathers 169 when I was 13 years old. All it took was a sudden stop of the right front wheel on a apple tree. Funny how those trees don't move. I thought he was going to cry, That tractor was his pride and joy. He got over it quick and told me lets get it fixed, he broke out the welder and we had it fixed in about an hour. That was 26 years ago and it still mows my uncles yard every week with that broken axle.

Well I got her all cleaned up, the new front axle on, Put a good float with a new carb kit, new head gasket, had to free up the exhaust valve as it was stuck and put my other muffler on her. Seems to run pretty strong but it does surge some. I think it is something with the linkage because it moves all on its own. Also the hydro linkage seems to be pretty lose. But I'll get it all done with some time. Oh ya my son has already claimed it as his.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
