I use the front blade with spring assist. I think it still moves snow just fine. The blade will only do so much. It's not a truck or tractor mounted blade. It's just on a GT.

I made a redneck blade lift with a cheap winch. Crude, but sure is better than using my arm! (After all, when you take it all off for the summer it looks like a Cub Cadet again)

I put a 42 inch blade on my 127, the tractor has spring assist set for a snowthower, pretty tight. It worked great. When pushing snow with the blade it seemed to hold down with snow on top, buildup in front when pushing. A spring assist is an asset to any tractor. It can be adjusted to individual implements.

If you can find a suitable spring, such as an odd one from a blade, they are fairly easy to make from scratch if you have the means to bend and weld.

A row unit spring on a Kinze planter is almost the same size. Already has the nut welded (made) on too.

I see the WF spring assists go for around $60-$80+ in my area.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
