Pretty sure these and the A/C's were a joint venture with Yanmar. I can't find a Yanmar model that matches exactly.... I've only seen the A/C tractors in person, and I've worked on at least one Yanmar that was made awfully similar.

Darrell, that thing looks sweet. I would like to own one of them someday but you hardly ever see them for sale. Yes, we need more pics.

Jonathan you may be thinking of the Simplicity 9518 series of compact tractors...not this model. They were made by Hinomoto in Japan.

I may very well be thinking of those.

I don't know why, but I always thought these were rebadged Yanmars. Guess they're not. So, they both are a Simplicity built tractor, huh?

The tractors like that of the OP were AC/Simplicity tractors. AC/Simplicity tried their hand at several innovative designs. The unusual models did not sell well. Think of the Simplicity Sovereign 7790 with the Lombardini diesel and some of the compact models.

We had an A/C dealer here, so A/C tractors were around. But Simplicity didn't really show up until after the merger of A/C to AGCO, and the A/C lawn and garden tractors went to just Simplicity. Even then, they were scarce until the late 1990's. I have always liked them. Back when I bought my 1811 (first major GT purchase), I almost bought a Simplicity. I really liked them. But, in the end, I went back to my roots, lol. Point is, I am not too familiar with Simplicity's.

Close! it's a 550... 1958 or 1959 I believe. I got it from my dad...

I'm thinking the weather is supposed to be better this afternoon so I'll try to get a few snaps of her... She's definitely in her work clothes. Needs paint!!

The AC 620/720 and the Simplicity Powermax 9020 were all the same tractor. The later Powermax I believe they put power steering on?? A buddy of mine has the Wards equivalent to the Simplicity and AC... It has power steering... Baby blue and white... All neat tractors...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
