While working on the diff and before the drive shaft is disconnected is a good time replace the fan.
Support the drive shaft with a bottle jack and drive the coiled pin out of the rag joint before you remove anything as it is easier. Then you can change the fan easily and remember to put it on the correct way. I use kerosene to clean things, catching it in a big pan and re brushing it/cleaning. When you are all finished with it, throw it on your neighbors flowers Ha,LOL Seriously, I use it for starting brush pile fires in winter, and in the wood stove in the shop. Actual you can reuse it many times before that.  Be careful with the fan, they are way too fragile.
