Pretty sure that is what it should be. That's what CCC shows in the parts list, both on the website, and in the mower attachment manual. Don't know what the issue is, but I believe that belt should fit.
![]() Not to say there aren't errors in the parts books..... because there are. Lots of them, actually. |

The center pulley on my 54" deck is ~ 5.69" outside diameter.
The center pulley on my 48" deck is ~ 5.06" outside diameter. I purchased the 54" deck new and has never been apart. On the 48", the center pulley is smaller to increase tip speed to (I'm guessing) be equal to the 54" deck. I install the PTO belt around the pulleys before I roll the deck rearward to lock into position. No stretching required.

The way you install the belt is the correct way. Any other way is too difficult. I don't know why you would even try to put the belt on after locking the deck in place. Sometimes it's hard enough to get it to latch in place doing it the "right" way.

Even with the belt on and everything in place I thought the tension seemed too tight... but I could be wrong. It's happened once before. I'll try that with the new belt when I get it. On every tractor I've ever owned the belt has enough slack in the mule drive spring to roll it on with the deck in place. |

You may be able to move where your hanging frame is attached to your mule drive to get a good fit.

I'll take a look at that, but here's a new wrinkle. I got a new 754-3001 in a red white and blue box today, I just went and put it on and it fits better.
Is it possible the old belt shrunk over time? I don't think so. I would think the only possibility is for it to stretch. Oh well. I'm back up and running now. Edit: I do have holes. Thanks a lot for that idea. ![]() IMG_4124.jpg |

I have my carriage mounted using the front holes.

On one of the mower installation instructions with the 3001 belt, it tells you to use the aft hole until the belt stretches and then move it to the rear hole.
Can't be any more specific than that and too lazy to look it up. I use the 3001 belt without problem on both the 48" and 54" deck on several different tractors without issue. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
