Because I'm sure I'm not the only one here that deals with it.... unfortunately. I could be off doing worse things is always my reply. I haven't yet figured out if that makes it better or worse

I recently came home with two 1200's that were listed on CL. Both have 44 decks in poor metal shape but good otherwise. #1 1200 starts and runs but smokes like a freight train, has headlights, electric lift, brand new front tires, decent ag's on rear, clutch destroyed by bad motor mounts. #2 1200 didn't run at purchase but did after I got it home and set the points, has decent front tires, backs are shot, steering goes 1/2 turn before engaging, but it has creeper and tiller gearboxs , plus spring lift assist. Both have the much appreciated "patina" and side covers and perfect seats. They were 20 minutes from home (made two trips). I paid $400, told the wife I paid $100. We both think I am a genius, plus when I sell one (or both) I will hand her a Ben Franklin (or two) and she will be VERY happy (as will I).

Moral of the story..... A little white lie never hurts as long as it concerns Cub Cadets!

Nice buys! The extras on those 1200's are certainly valuable as you already know. What are your plans for them? BTW, Tim wants to know if they will pop wheelies....LOL.

That's a nice pickup, and smooth operating. My wife just gave up on caring and being disgruntled with more Cubs coming in long ago. PAcubcadet, congrats on adding to the fleet

Thank you! The seller was asking $800 in his ad. He accepted my offer of $400 so fast I'm still kicking myself for not offering $300. Anyways, long term plan (because I don't have short term time) will be to use all the goodies from both to make a nice one which I'll prolly want to keep, the other I will make usable, it will be the smoker and I will see if I can get my investment back.

Popping wheelies....LOL. If you saw the clutch in the one, you'd think that's all sombody did with it.

Nice add-on! My wife wanted me to find a safer way to till her garden a couple years back (we had been using my father's Troy-bilt Horse which has had a rough life fron the get-go (delivery man dropped it off the back of the truck on delivery!) and had a gas leak that finally resulted in fire where you don't want it. We extinguished it before anyone was harmed, but that was enough for my wife to OK the tiller hunt. Found a 125 half an hour away with the tiller, a plow, a 48" deck, and a 36" blower. The owner wanted 400 for everything. I told him I had 250 on me right now, and he said SOLD! Best deal I've ever made, and the wife was happy too! And the tilling experience is a vast improvement.

Will have some here in a little bit. It appears I've already lost the key to it, so I can't start it. I need a new ignition in my 104 because the key is broke half off in the ignition from the PO...

I have a few other Indak keys around here but none seem to go into the 107 ignition. Any thoughts?

You'll need an IH key for both tractors. If you're not in a hurry, you can order a couple of these and wait for them. These should work, as long as the ignition is original style.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
