I understand that it wouldn't restore the threads, but I think because of the resistance there must be bits of the old bolt in there. I can get 2 1/4" w/ lock washer completely seated and frame tight to rear end. I think for now, I'm going to leave it alone and observe. If these back out, I will have to tear into it deeper.
For now, I have to work on adjusting trunion, things got tweaked with the frame twisting  I appreciate the help

Would you mind telling us how that happened.... the missing bolts and twisting frame, if you know?? Just curious

I wish I knew. I've had this tractor for over 20 years, prior to that a 127 w/ factory cigarette lighter  .To my knowledge those bolts have never been pulled. I was heartbroken when I felt/saw them missing. I bought these tractors from a dear friend (former IH mechanic) that is no longer with us

got an idea...

I have 2 possibilities here... one is a pretty well gutted 129, not much left but the frame and front axle... just got a few nights ago for the fender pan, the hood, grille panel and shifter handle/linkage, to go onto my other 129. I am still pretty new to alot of the subject of interchange among models, being that both the QL series and the 128/129 are wideframe tractors, would a 129 frame interchange with a 1650's? (my "parts" 129 frame is straight and not twisted up) other possibility is in my PM....
