I just changed mine.
But I did it during my engine swap so getting the drive shaft off was easy. I believe on the quietline series you have to undo the engine from the cradle and slide it forward to get the driveshaft out. -Ted |

I was reading these posts on how to replace the fan and found on youtube a guy who used a fan blade from an appliance that slips over the shaft using a collier he made to attach to. Looks like a great time saver and a better repair. the only thing is I cannot find this fan blade. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to find this blade? The guy on youtube does not respond to requests.
Thanks |

I've been trying go find an aluminum replacement option for my hydro cubs as well...especially when I had just bought a new OEM plastic one and it broke when it fell from 10" above the ground...I think the best bet will be a dehumidifier/humidifier repair place...the one in my 1974 monkey wards (gilson bros) is aluminum and attached to a larger split collar...I've been looking around.. Found a place, just waiting on size, blade angle, etc...
Good luck |

No need to undo the engine in a Q/L to replace the fan.
Just follow the procedure as stated in the manual. And while you are at it, you may want to replace the rag joint(s) also at this time if they are deformed and hard as a brick. When they are in that condition, it adds to driveline vibrations, not good. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
