Has nothing to do with serial number. It was a kit offered for the reasons Mike stated.... later style decks, tillers and snowthrowers. It could have had a snowthrower on it at some point. Or someone may have had a later style deck on it..... who knows, but it got changed at some point. Cool part is, you have the pulleys you need!

Now it's turned cold here in the South again. One day the air conditioner is running, the next, the heat? The azaleas always get burned by a good frost here every year as soon as they bloom. Dang I want to get this one finished.

I have the front of the tractor off, hood, grill and mule drive. Now how's the bestest way to get that stuck pulley off?

Jeff in PA makes a puller, your way will bend the crap out of it, or....
You drill two holes in the pulley outside of the basket, insert bolts with washers through the backside and use those in conjunction with a puller. Be sure to shine up the crank as I see paint on it. But you will have 2 holes in it though.

![]() Well, I ended up just ordering the pulley puller from Jeff. Now I will have the correct tool if I need to pull one off again. I absolutely hate not having the correct tool for the job. Thank God for Jeff ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
