Yes, I bought it from a relative and good friend. I didn't realize he was selling it until he already had it on Craigslist. Sorry to break up your deal. I didn't ask him to cancel the sale to you, I just told him if the deal fell through I would give him twice what you offered. He came back a few minutes later and told me to come get it, so I did. I'm excited to keep it in the family.

Money isn't the point. It's the principal. If he wanted $500 he should have told me he wanted $500. Just aggravates me that some peoples word is no good anymore. Oh well. Wasn't meant to be. Enjoy your 782D

I agree, your word should be worth something, even if it does cost you 250.00.

I'm thinking the seller probably had a bunch of emails if he was selling that for $250 and it was still a heck of a buy at $500. I just had the same thing happen to me on a 1250.
OP, are the bearings bad on the cooling fan? I had failed fan bearings on one of my 882's so now when I'm redoing one I change the bearings out. How bad is it? I would pull it and take it to a shop and see if they can re-core it as Frank suggested. How is the driveline? Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

Yeah, I'm going to say that was dirty. If you guys had a deal.... plus it sounds like the relative screwed the OP. If he had it sold for half, and made you pay double to get it..... with family like that, who needs enema's. That was just dirty to everyone involved. Chewy I'd be pissed too. John, I think you got the shaft too.....

Seems your word is not worth what it once was,I had a deal made for an off brand tractor . I went outside to drop the snow plow off the truck to go get it and he emailed back, I got offered more deal is off . I have won and lost on my share of deals but always stuck to the bargain. What made it worse was I broke my plow and have that to repair now too! Oh well, rant is over everyone enjoy a great Holiday.

Oh well. It is what it is. People that do that kind of stuff usually get what they've got coming to them. My rant is over too. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas

Chewy, again, I'm sorry you got a raw deal. I originally suggested to him that a deal was a deal and that he should keep his agreement with you, but if the deal fell through I would buy it. He made the decision to break the deal. I'd point out, though, that he didn't set a price. His ad said "make offer" so I'm assuming you offered him only $250. We all have different opinions on this, but my personal opinion is that a $250 offer is taking advantage of the seller and not treating him fairly in spite of his ignorance. But maybe that's all this machine is worth to you. If so, I won't criticize your offer amount. You also asked him to hold it for a week, which I'm sure you know is a risky move, especially when it's such a hot item and sure to attract a lot of callers and probably some higher offers. In the end, a deal is a deal, so he should have kept his bargain with you, which I'd have done were I in his shoes. I didn't know he was going to call you and cancel the deal until he'd already done it. I wasn't going to weigh in on this subject, but since others put in their two cents, I'll say my piece. End of my rant
![]() Oak, regarding your question about the fan bearings, I haven't had time to look at it closely yet. I think the main reason the fan gouged the radiator is because the bolts holding the fan bracket came loose, but I appreciate your tip about the bearings and I'll be sure to check them. It looks like the radiator isn't too bad, so I'm going to look into having it repaired. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
