Howdy! I'm working on my 125 as time permits me. I really have a passion for these IH Cub Cadets! You can find my 125 thread in the main board of the forum.
You will see how much dirt and what not can collect around the pump over the years. A clean machine is a great preforming machine!!

Default hydro leak

Had a hydro fluid leak Last summer. could not track it down, Previously split the tractor.replaced the (105) cork gasket, trunion fixed, hydro housing cleaned, etc. To be sure I wasn't loosing a a significant amount of fluid, I checked the hydro level, and it FARTED about a pint of fluid out of the fill hole. I swear I filled it accurately……honest no kidding, would I lie ? Problem solved.

if the extra just flowed out that is no biggy.
but if it "farted out" with any force then maybe the vent needs to be cleaned out or off.

On my 1650 the vent is a sintered or powedered metal bronze insert set flush into the top surface, above the fill port.

Willie, the expansion plug on mine was leaking also. It took me several times wiping things off with a rag, letting it sit overnight, checking with a light, touching to see where the wetness was, to narrow down the leak. But it definitely was the expansion plug, in my case. I think the PO had power washed it, and suspect that may have been too much.
It is an access cover for access to a nut retaining a gear in the transaxle. I carefully drilled thru the exact center, and tapped it 1/4-20. Then I found I had a small oil filter cup style wrench that fit over the hole (big side towards the plug). Then I took a long bolt and washer through the 1/2" drive hole, and used it as a puller to pull out the old plug. I carefully took an Exacto knife and cleaned the opening. A very small say, 1/16" bead of the oil resistant gasket maker, and then I tapped the new plug in. Be careful to only get it flat, and then stop. If it goes inside out, it will start getting loose again.
I hope this helps.
Andy

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
