The hinge should be between the headlight panel and the front casting.

If you look at the under side of the hood extension there is a provision for the hinge to fit into.

I saw that! The hinge that is on my 108 must have been replaced by the PO at some point cause it is about 3/4" above the nose casting when in place...I will have to trim it up a bit.

Not sure I understand the question, but if it helps here is a pic of my 149....

looking at your picture if my eyes aren't playing tricks on me since I have been up since 4am...your hinge is mounted on the inside of the headlight panel. I looked again at mine last evening and it is between the panel and the nose casting. As Yosemite Sam said there is a notch in the casting for the hinge. The PO of this 108 replaced the hinge at some point and it wasn't drilled right so when I put it back together I wasn't sure which was the correct way...the way mine is mounted now with a different hinge you can see the top part of the hinge when looking at the front of the tractor. I will have to trim it off some.

Ironman that is one nice looking 149 ya got there!!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
