Thanks, Allen. I've been happy with it so far. Can't wait to get it all fixed up to use it. It's had some small issues that have kept me from really using it. The wiring harness needed replaced before I could safely run it and the charging system still isn't working. It also has no brakes, and it's really hard to drive a gear drive without brakes. Haha.

Anytime Lance! You definitely need brakes for a gear drive.

Heah Jon, don't know if I told you what I used to dissemble my driveshaft on my 1200! A drill press! Worked pretty well too! Thanks for sharing Jon!

Yesterday and today were busy days. Unfortunately the real job always seems to get in the way of fun. We got the 126 stripped down and pressure washed. It was really dirty up inside the frame and around the engine. There were a few pins and holes that were kind of worn out, but most of them will hold up till I can tear it down and do a proper refurb.

The creeper I found on eBay looked really good inside, so we just washed it out and cut a new gasket out of a roll of gasket material. It mounted right up without any issues and has been filled with oil. The tractor got bolted back together so we can at least roll it around now.

Tomorrow we'll probably be working on the shed and won't get much done with the tractor. I need more storage space for my Cubs so I can get them off the back porch. I picked up a 107 this past weekend so I'm back up to 4 tractors! I threw in one picture of it on the trailer from when I got it home.

I caught up the other thread, now this one!

Worked on the 126 on and off this week. After the creeper was on and back in the frame, we set the engine back in. I noticed that the head looked like it was leaking and suggested we remove it. Pulled the head and and glad we did! Gasket was in fact leaking, and the head was pretty warped. Planed it up (after I we made a planing glass) and put it back on.

Here's the pics, so you know it happened.

Head removed:

Planing glass:
Left paper is 180 grit, right paper is 400. Both glued to the glass with Loctite spray adhesive. It will just peel off and you can replace the paper. Glass was 1/4" thick plate glass, 12" X 24". Cost all of $15 including shaved edges so they aren't sharp.

Block cleaned and ready for assembly:

Here is two pics of head. Left one is just starting to plane it. You can see how bad it was. Right one is completed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
