The other day when I was placing an order with McMaster-Carr, I decided to add a 10 pack of Military Spec Bumpers to the order. They seem to be rugged and with the metal insert I’m hoping that they’ll do the job well.
![]() The problem I was having was that the set of bumpers that I purchased from one of the common Cub Cadet parts suppliers (that shall remain nameless), just 1 year ago, had already fallen apart! It’s tough enough getting’ the cash up to fix stuff let alone have parts fail in such a short time. ![]() So, the next time you’re putting together an order for spirol pins and split locking collars for your clutch rebuild, and vinyl edge for the back edge of your quietline hood, and tie rod ends for any of your Cubs, add a bag of bumpers to your list. At 11.87 for 10, I think you’re gonna be better off than 10 bucks for two from some other place. ![]() Mil. Spec. Bumper, 1" Diameter, 1" High (Part # 8884T25) http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/122/3843/=13zes00 ![]() You're also gonna need a couple of 1/4" x 1" allen head cap bolts and a couple of 1/4" nylock nuts. Maybe a washer or two! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
