Could just be a replacement engine. They were all painted black after a certain point. Either way, it's not original!

Right but coil mount up high versus down low tells me blower housing at least is wide frame

I'm not sure on a replacement engine if you had a choice of coil mounting location. Never paid that much attention. I would have though they would all be the same. ![]() |

Wow thank you. Kudos on the dipstick deal too. Only reason i knew is I had a completely rotted out blower housing on the bottom on my 108 and went through the hassle of taking out engine and changing it all over from a 301 out of a 122 and then noticed too late. It's all in the details sometimes as you know.

Yea that was for sure a Lew price. Too bad they hacked up the dash tower to stick an auto size battery in it. Dash tower is pretty rotted as well. Gonna pressure wash it off tomorrow and put a good carb and clean gas in it and see what is what. If the engine is a good runner I might find a good 125 dash tower and put a little time in to it. We shall see.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
