Leave the underglow off too.... it's a tractor, not a car.

Your welcome.

Have you guys ever seen a cigarette lighter for these things? A buddy of mine says he has one and I'm thinkin about buying it and putting it on for the heck of it. Any thoughts on that?

The cigarette lighter was an option on the later tractors but I'm not sure about the 73.

Please understand that I do understand the "cool factor" of adding things to a plain Jane tractor. I certainly am not above making and installing "options" (factory or not) to make using my tractors more friendly, but at the same time, I leave the low production tractors alone. IH did have several accessories that are way cooler than gauges or cigarette lighters.

If you want to cool it up, add a three point hitch, spring assist, headlights/tail light, sleeve hitch adapter, hydraulic lift, fenders and a rear pto.

Pretty sure a lighter was (at best) an aftermarket dealer add on.

If you really feel the need to power a hand held spotlight, charge your phone or really need a USB point on your 73, I would just suggest that you go to wal-fart and get a "power point" and put some alligator clips on it so you can attach it to your battery when the need arises.

You will get many more Oooh's and Ahhhh's at a tractor show with a nice clean crisp plain Jane 73 than you ever would with one sporting fuzzy dice, curb feelers ground straps and a raccoon tail.

About the only thing I'd add besides an ammeter (and lights if not already installed) is a small but effective horn hidden discreetly. That way I can peep at people while I'm driving it, especially if it's in a parade/etc.

I'd use a small compressor and a train horn.

For the record, yes, a cigar lighter was an option on a 73.

Did you look carefully at the tractor picture on the front page of this forum?

It's an "O" with the optional OEM headlights ,fenders and a after market seat cover. Just saying...

Now I'm wondering were this discussion is going, starting from gauges, going into fancy light show and now ending in a cigarette lighter....

What's next? A beer holder? A radio? A GPS?

I personally vote for a riffle holder so you can shoot those ?%&$ squirrels who dig holes everywhere.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
