As dirty and grimy as that seems, it is in actually very good condition considering what a lot of us usually see. I cannot believe how nice of shape your hood still is (the bolt holes are not all worn out and the metal is not twisted, cracked, and broken). Great bones there on a nice cub!

Yeah that's cool Tommy. Sad to see the Fiberglas seat the way it is but Maxwells right, it's decent and not missing much. 123 is rugged, first hydro made, good luck with it. Bet it cleans up pretty nice

The tractor was in a truck body kind of shed with the door open. The front of the tractor was facing the front of the shed and the back of the tractor was right by the doorway. It had cardboard over the hood, and some of the dash, and it was covering the sides. I'd really like to have a seat for it, the one on it is NASTY. Also the steering wheel turns my hands black.

Nice find! The 123 is a neat tractor, especially considering that it was the first hydro unit. You've got some work ahead of you on the restoration, but it looks like it should be straightforward.
Does the engine turn over?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
