First coat of primer on all parts to be painted yellow. Rear fender needs more sanding around slight pitted area.

Sorry SGragg missed you engine question.

Last year I picked up a wheel horse 417-8 (kt17 series I I ) for cheap. Magnets in the flywheel broke free and took the stator. So after replacing the flywheel (with one from a cub) and the stator the engine runs ok. I hauled firewood with the wheel horse last fall to give the engine a workout. It seems fine. So for now this will be my engine.

Since I still need to buy a pto clutch I have been keeping my eyes open
For something else if the price is right.

Still making progress.

Last coat of primer on yellow parts.

First coat of primer on white parts.

Really like the HF HVLP sprayer. Very little overspray and nice control but this is
My first HVLP so I have little to compare it with.

Angry

One step forward, two steps back!

Got up early this morning. Weather was great, no wind, temps in the 60's but warming to 75. Hung all the parts, mixed yellow paint and suited up.

Well my inexperience with spraying and poor cleaning of the gun following priming resulted in a very crappy job. Orange peel everywhere, except for a few small parts.

My biggest problem was lack of paint being applied. While the gun worked good for a minute, it went down hill fast. After examining the poor job, I totally disassembled the paint gun and found small chunks of primer in the gun. I have no one to blame but myself.

So now I need to sand all the panels and parts to remove the orange peel in the yellow paint.

Since this was my first light coat of yellow paint will the next coats help hide some of the orange peel?

I would wait until it hardens and then just fine-grit sand it until it smooths out. No need to break it all down and strip it clean again.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
