From the looks of the pulley, it looks like the original pulley of the deck. I could be wrong tho

Default 1450

I have a with a 44a deck, I believe it is original to the tractor.
If the deck is original to the a 1450 I think it should be a model 44A deck and will use a 1/2" wide belt. The top of the center pulley measures 4-1/4" across the top.

Randell, was there a 44 deck prior to the 44A? I believe the quietline came out with the 44A and 50A decks, then the 82 series came out with the "C" decks. The "C" decks used the 5/8" wide belts. Please correct me if I am wrong, but that is what I think to be accurate.

Here is where the problem lies. I can NOT find where the 44A had a 3-9/16" center pulley. All the data that I have is, what you stated: 4-1/4"

Now that we have established you have a modified home made pulley, you have two options.

(A) Use the existing pulley. Measure the distance around the the belt route with string and find a belt that will work for this application.

or

(B) Change the Center Drive Pulley to: IH-126393-C1. With that change, you will need belt: IH-117465-C1.

Just an opinion, but I would opt to change the pulley, as it has a small wrap @ that diameter and might slip under heavy grass conditions.
With that said, your smaller pulley @ 3.5" mathematically should use a 1-1/2" shorter belt than a 4-1/2" pulley would use. ( approx)

Looking at the Mower Deck more closely, someone added a plate under the center pulley that isn't original either. See attachment...

Yeah it looks like my grandfather made this plate to keep it brief from getting inside where the belt is. That's my guess

Guess I'll just take a string and try and measure a belt to fit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
