Shotgun,
The v61 tires seem to make the tractor turn with amazing ease which is helpful as mine does not have power steering. I did, however, do the "poor man's power steering" modification which makes turning the steering wheel with one finger easy. With the turf tires, especially on tight turns, the tractor would tend to go straight which was annoying especially on my hilly terrain. The v61 tires turn and track like it is on rails. Also, the turf tires--2 ply--lose air pressure a lot leading to harder steering. The v61 tires--6 ply--need tubes and take higher pressure and do not lose pressure. For me, the difference between the turf tires and the v61 tires is about as dramatic as going from the back turf tires to the Tru-Power ags. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I also liked the Firestone tri-ribbed tires as well but went with the v61 tires. Both can be bought at Miller's Tire who are really great to deal with and reasonably priced.

If you get one let us know, take some pics for us and let us know how it works out for you. Good luck.
Thanks for the info. I have read the forum and found it interesting. Appears the XT3 is similar to the GT2000 series. Still trying to find the specs on the transaxle. I know they are using the BDU-10L pump, but can't find any info on the rear end. I am concerned about the weight limit on the axles and the torque output compared to a G7 or K66 transaxle. The local Cub dealer said he thought the BDU-10L setup was stronger than the G7 or K66, but couldn't prove it. Sounds like I might be better off looking for a used GT2000 series........

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
