Cut a Fram filter open and then cut a NAPA, Wix, Baldwin, etc open and you will see. The Fram is very cheaply made and uses very little paper. NAPA makes a really good filter, I think they are better than Wix.

A study was done on these Hydro Filters of which I was a part of. A lot of research went into this.Filters were bought & cut open.
These are the ONLY ones that are suitable for our Cub Cadets and Sundstrand... Filters

Just for reference on Wix Filters. If the 1st # is a 5 it's for oil, if it's a 4 it's air and it it's a 3 it's for fuel. Normally to go from Wix to NAPA you drop the first number a 51515 Wix is the same as a 1515 NAPA. It's been a few years since I worked in a shop, but it was true then.

I've had two Fram filters that did not flow. One years ago on my truck and one last year on my 1872. I will NEVER EVER use a Fram again. I have now switched to Motorcraft for engine filters and I use the NAPA 1410 on the hydros.

I use CC hydro filters. I priced a NAPA filter, and it cost just as much as the CC filter, and the CC dealer is a couple miles closer to me than NAPA.

If you cut both NAPA nad Wix filters open you will see the NAPA is a better filter, it has more paper and a better valve.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
