Sam the reason that i didnt clean before hand is that the main reason for me to take this apart was that this came off of a tractor that had sat in the woods for 20+ years. The matting face for the pump and the rear end was oxidized, and caked with junk, heck the gasket was completely disintegrated. With the bearing and return line being right there i didnt want to start cleaning it and all the debris going right into the pump through the return hole and through the bearing.

there for i figured i would tear it apart and then go through everything inside and out and make sure it was clean before i put it back together.

Fully aware that it needs to be very clean when it goes back together.

Funny you should mention that. I just recently learned that. Ill have to admit though before i tried i cough a few youtube videos that made it look pretty simple to do so that's why I didn't think there was a secret code that you had to know to do it.

Yeah..., it was on the internet so it must be true. Trust me our tech library has pretty much everything you need to know about your Cub short of the Cyclops and newer stuff.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
