I've thought about using the same joints more than once. I was a little concerned about how long they will last and the lack of a grease fitting. Guess you will be able to answer that. I have a couple sets of them from my race car days sitting in a box. Please keep us posted on how they work for you.

Will do.
This one gets a Johnny Bucket Jr. I don't expect to ever run wide open throttle. I asked JB to build one with a delete for the lift actuator. I was going to use the hydraulic lift on the 782. They said no. So, I removed the hydraulic lift on the 782 and sold it.

That driveshaft looks so simple compared to the one used on the Cyclops. No expensive grease boots, balls escaping across the floor, tiny rubber seals, etc.

I think I should have went this route when I had mine out replacing the boots and fan. I like simple.

Good looking build. I was pretty picky when I started putting my 782 back together and a year later it still looks pretty good. But I figure, hey, it's a garden tractor and they are going to get dirty. Still, if I built another one, I'd probably do it the same way.

It's a 20hp that was on a mower that caught fire. Not sure what brand mower since it wasn't with the engine. To get it running I replaced the voltage regulator, coils, stator and fan. Cleaned the carb, adjusted the valves, replaced some wiring.
The seller threw in a starter and fuel pump.
It was pretty dirty. Cleaned it up, put in new spark plugs, put it on my test stand and it fired right up. Has good compression.
Don't have much money in either the cub or the engine. Got lucky this time.

It looks really nice so far, personally I like the sound/smoothness of the opposed twins.
Has anyone re powered a wide frame but not a spread frame,
I.E. (14-1650) with a vanguard and been able to put the side panels on?
That would make those old shakers smooth, with newer engines

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
