The pump drives everything. Forward and reverse is a simple control valve.

Sneak up on the Case garden tractor guys and 'borrow' the rears out of a couple of hydrive 446's or 448's and you would be good for 10mph.
This should be an interesting project! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I remember Methos testing these with a big electric drill,, maybe you gotta give the hydraulics a try. Put the machine up on jack stands, all wheels off the ground,, spin the pump, see what happens It might put a smile on your face,,,

Specs call out 3.8 mph only problem I'm seeing is the second stage of pump I see no need for in my case unless I leave it there for a rear pto could have it spin a motor to run something I guess looking at pump I don't think I can remove that section. The machine has what kind of looks like a transfer case or drop down box from drive motor to axels would love to see of I could make a cub hydro fit to it wouldn't be easy but I think it could be done.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
