I really hope you didn't mess up the hydro by not capping the ports and then not just washing it, but painting it as well....

I had tape over the lines when I washed it. I plan to change the Hytrans anyway.

Did you leave them covered when you painted it, too? If you got anything at all in the charge pump, you risk destroying it. It doesn't take much. I would also take some laquer thinner and remove the paint from the bare aluminum part of the hydro so it can cool properly.

I was careful when I painted around it. I may do that, there is very little overspray on the tranny. I thoink with the oil in the fittings it shouldn't stick to anything. I plan to change the oil anyway.

Since this is going to be my FEL tractor I plan to switch the steering column for an upgraded 3 turn column. And do the front spindle upgrade. I have seen a few farm tractor break the spindles from to much load on them.
I will then have the old column upgraded and I will install that in my 129 when I tear it down.

What's the easiest way to remove the hydro shift lever so I put a new decal on the dash tin?
I have the set screw loose.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
