Amen to that Red, my 1256 is an awesome tractor but I could a had 15 cubs restored for the same price!! I wouldn't trade that tractor for anything though, they are bulletproof like I hear about these old cubs.

I would rather have one 1256 than 15 cubs!!!! I just can't justify one since I don't have a farm, dang it. It was always my favorite tractor, as a young one I plowed many thousand acres on new ones sitting on the dealers lot in Cameron Mo. when Dad would go to get parts.

149 is my favorite as well. I bought mine last month and been busy fixing it up. It's a wide frame, hyd lift, IH made CC. What's not to like? The best part is parts and support are everywhere unlike some other garden tractors.

The 149 is a great all around tractor and the hydraulic lift is the best part. Easy to work on to. Makes me wish I hadn't sold mine.

You will love the 149. I got mine finished in late fall and it is terrific pushing snow.

I have one I use with a tiller. The Hyd lift is sweet. It has the highly sought after Ikea shopping bag seat cover.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
