a little progress today due to heavy snow removal. i scraped a whole bunch of crap out from around the hydro and rear end. got 2 shovel full of stuff. i agree with you saturn, i think it is also. a few questions i have:
first, in this picture, what does this push button do? infront of the rockshaft. not really sure, its hooked into the wiring harness.
second, is this a sunstrand hydro? if so, where can i get this rear seal if it is indeed leaking? does this remove from the tractor just by removing the 2 bolts in the frame, the hydro line underneath and the driveshaft?

thanks guys

That pushbutton is the clutch interlock switch. Supposed to keep you from starting the engine without having the brake pedal depressed.

All the hydros are sunstrand units. The gaskets (and other parts) are available from forum sponsors, partstree.com and numerous other sources.

The hydo unit comes off the rear end by removal of the drive shaft, the suction pipe underneath, the hydro lift lines, and 4 bolts that go through the unit into the rear end.

You could, but that style of lift is for a Narrow Frame tractor and was never used on a Wide Frame.

The hydraulic lift on a Wide Frame uses a ported transmission and all the rest of the parts fit in under the tunnel cover.

Has anyone ever made a NF hydro pump work on a wide frame gear drive? I know that they made an E lift for the wide frames but they seem very rare and expensive.

Yes you can find light panels complete, extra harness for them and switch from our sponsors or put an ad in the wanted section

By far the best one I have ever seen re-worked to a WF. Neat job on the setup and definitely worth looking at!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
