Mike the wife keeps me in check in a good way
But at the same time its killing me not to able to work on this 102 after just buying it. This is why I am asking such broad termed questions.

Since we are talking about wives as much as Cubs I'll add that I was married to the B---H from H--L for 37 years, she checked out, life has been good ever since. First wife would have loved it if I filed for a divorce, no way she was going to get 1/2 of everything I worked for all my life, I out lasted her.
Married a Southern girl this year Happy, Happy, Happy. Just wish I had met her instead of the first one.

Ive bought 7 tractors in 10 months ,all different ,some junk for parts regardless she doesnt go out there much. Shes really a keeper I'm not throwing her back Just running out of room.
This is my first clutch repair ,starts up in gear and takes off, if not in neutral. Motor sound great, oils like honey, tractor doesn't look bad either.

first I'd make sure the brake rod going to the brake lever is there. then make sure the pivot where the rods hook on don't have a sheared pin. also look to make sure the adjusting bolt isn't back out or the push rod missing. if that looks good then its probably the puck seized in the reduction housing or the pivot pin seized. there's not allot to them. look at a break down in a parts book or manual and its pretty self explanatory . if all looks good I had 1 tractor 1 time where the brake disk on the front of the pinion where the disc broke from the splined center.

Nice 102,looks like the clutch plates are stuck together.push down on the pedal and lock it.Then use a putty knife to separate the clutch plate from the drive plate.

I have 2 102s. Yes they are internal brakes. It is a little bit of a job to get to the very inside brake puck as you have to remove a wheel, cog, to get to the very inside puck. I have found the very inside puck doesn't seem to wear very much. The outside puck is easy to replace. IIRC there is a ball between the puck and the adjustment rod. Do not lose that ball. Also when you adjust the brakes, do it in very small increments as a little adjustment means a lot of brake difference. Good luck with your project, we are all counting on you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
