Glad to hear you got it running! Go ahead and run 30wt oil. That's all I run in mine.

That's what I had thought

Any suggestions for an exhaust elbow? I've been trying to find a threaded pipe elbow at local hardware stores with no success...

So Jon , thought you used brad penn oil to break an engine in . Are you saying it's ok to use standard or low ash 30W?

I want to put a stack on... does the stack need a muffler? For the sake of back pressure? I don't care about noise... I'm young and learned early to wear ear plugs for everything :P

I break engines in on the same oil as I'm going to run in it. I don't use synthetic. Penzoil 30wt or Rotella 30wt is what I run in all my Kohler engines. Standard, low ash.... doesn't matter.

Hope I understood your question right..... Is that what you wanted to know?

No, doesn't need a muffler for back pressure. There is truth to getting a stack on and the carb tuned. A stack can affect HP. On a stock motor, I doubt any that you will notice, I'm just saying. Anyway, hardware store should have what you need. I don't see why you can't find any. It's just 1" pipe. I suggest a long sweep, or 2 45°'s to make a 90°. That way it's not so abrupt of a turn for the exhaust gas.

Well the problem is finding a 1" threaded elbow that doesnt have a female end on it..l just want a male threaded end with bare pipe so I can weld a couple together and a stack... eh?

Yep that's what I was asking. I'm gonna use IH low ash oil in mine to break it in and use in it. I haven't had time to finish assembling it, been working about 60 70 hrs a week. Thanks Jon !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
