If you drove the old ones out...... I doubt the issue is with the hub.

On mine, on one side they fit just fine with a swinging press, on the other side it was obvious someone had run a wheel bearing out at one time, opening up the hub slightly. There are some marks ground into the bottom of the spindle on that side also. I had thought about welding it up, because $56 for a new wheel is just too strong for me right now. The spindle got emery, the hub got epoxy, its all good now. It's a tractor not a space shuttle.

The aluminum tape worked well for me also. If you can fit a piece of pop can all the way around that's pretty far out of wack.

Used the coke can metal for a shim. Bearings were a little tight bur was able to use a hammer and a socket to fit the outside of the bearing and they went in ok. Wheels roll freely so I don't think I hurt the bearings. Thanks again for all the responses.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
