Looks a little better than my repair. Took a little miller briefcase welder and just built up around the original opening with 5/32 6010 rod. Once I had enough weld on it, I started filing. Took a cheap caliper, and just matched the opening to the corresponding opening on the mating portion. I fit the spring several times, and when it was right, it became obvious, because the spring buttons slid in without any play in any direction. I probably wouldn't do it that way again, and may well order the repair piece later. On the other hand, it worked perfectly. I intended to keep working on it to improve the cosmetics, but I quit when I was ahead.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
