I felt some of those reasons until I bought one, now it is probably one of my favorite models. Trust me they grow on you quickly. Now, all of those reasons, have made it unique to me and very cool

That's also how I felt about the NFs. Now I love riding my 102 around! I guess it is the progression of the disease.

I agree... the belt drive can be a pain

and they are kinda ugly to the point of being cute

the later ones do have more eye appeal and lots of improvements

but it is the granddaddy of all cub cadets!

If you only have one and you use it, you are better off with a later one

If you have several... and you just play with them... you gotta have an original

you will grow to love it!

Looks like a nice '61 O! Glad you decided to join the club (last time I joined the club, I was beat over the head with it!). The originals make you look like a low rider when you are on them and I think it will soon become one of your favorite tractors. I can't wait to see your pics of your progress that you will be posting about it!!

Well here it is. It's a little worse than I thought, mainly the front of the hood. It rolls real easy, the shifter moves freely, and so does the steering. The brake pedal moves but sticks. Haven't gone through the engine parts. There is an oil bath air cleaner in there. It's not a 3 digit, but May of '61 aint too bad. He also has a 102 that he may sell as well

That's engine is gonna need some serious work judging by the rust, might have to beat the piston out with a sledge hammer.
