There's no side covers.
I took the clutch apart and found the problem or problems. Clutch drive plate is broken in middle and needs a new pin. Question about the clutch lever, is the hole in the middle one hole or two holes side by side, there's a pic of mine, to me it looks rounded out bigger, can't find any picture of athe normal hole size.

Welcome to OCC!
Nice looking 1000. It is only one hole not two.
I would bet your motor mounts are shot also. The clutch plate is pretty expensive to replace as is the motor mounts.

I understand what you will be going through, if you are going to replace the clutch and driveline. I just did that on my 1200. My 3 pin flex driver looked about like yours. Yes, the release lever has one elongated hole. Here is a pic of a good release lever, and my broken 3 pin driver. I had no idea of the amount of things that got destroyed by having wore out iso mounts, but didnt take long to find out once I started digging. I was keeping my 1200 though, so I was ok with spending the money on the parts, you may not want to if you are trying to sell it. The fine folks here answered alot of my questions and gave good advice on different mods and things to check/replace. What kind of condition are the rest of the drivline parts in? Thanks, TB

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
