My neighbor stated he was part of the invasion as a paratrooper in the big red one
he told the story many times always very interesting. My dad was in the south pacific with the Navy and took part in the Tarawa island invasion ,also very costly he was crew on a LS boat off a LST and went ashore So costly to the marines when they left for another battle some one put a rag down the intake of the diesel and it would lag behind in the armada there after
