Considering the condition of the Cubs around here, your 149 sounds like a gem.

I wish I could find them in such good shape!

X2 It is a 149. Doesn't sound too far removed from my 129. Wiring, trans leaks, control lever splines stripped out, etc, etc. Why don't you just load it up and make the skip and hop down here to GA and we'll fix up our Cubs together. I got the trans out of mine right now.

Hey all I'm still new here , and was hoping for some advice on my 2 plus 1 recently required 149s. Should I start a new thread? Solid tractors but each has a different engine problem. I just need one to run for the summer .

This 149 looks a heck of a lot better than the one I passed on last summer. I couldn't find one part on the machine that didn't need work. It wasn't even good parts.

At least, your headlights work!

I have one Cub Cadet Nightmare, and that is so much fun that I seem to want another. Am I crazy?

I should clarify, I don't just need one for the summer. I love these things, I grew up on the first two that were my grandpa's . I'd like to fix them all .

Sorry to hear the shape of your new one

Sounds like it was used pretty hard. But there's a bright side.
Ah.......give me a second.......it's a IH Cub Cadet?
Hang in there Sam, this 149 will be a great tractor when you get done performing your magic on it
It'll be shining like a diamond in a goats butt

I had hoped that I could put it and the tiller to work without too much effort but now it looks more like a project. Oh well I'll fix it the way it should be and be done with it. Guess I'll get to use it next season. It's getting a bath first.

I had to tighten the bolts on the rear end/frame on my 147 when I bought it in '12....I checked them again 2 weeks ago and one was loose. She comes loose again it's getting lock tited.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
