I know but some people really do sell things for the right price.

My perspective on the value is this:

Johnny is in the market for a grass cutting machine plus maybe some occasional gardening or plowing. He has shopped around at the two major home improvement stores and the roebuck place. All he can find for the 1100 bucks he has scrimped up are pressed tin, belt driven, 18 inch tired, wanna be lawn tractors that will be ready for the scrapyard in 6-7 years.

Then, for the same money, he comes across this fully restored, like brand new, honest-to-God, little yellow GARDEN Tractor that's been around for fifty years and ready to go fifty more..... Plus he gets a bunch of extra extras thrown in with it. Johnny's no moron, he jumps all over this deal and heads home with his new work horse in the back of his pickup.

Later that evening, sitting out in the garage, finishing off a six-pack, Johnny has has a change of heart. The next morning he jumps in his truck, heads on down to that roebuck place, plops down his credit card and heads home with a hunk of pressed tin in the back of the truck. Yeah, Johnny has fallen in love with that little yellow baby, it will see noooo work details, it's just too beautiful.

That evening Johnny's wife suggests that he sleep out in the garage!

well i had found a 102 for 300 bucks in great shape and the next day he backed out and then i found a 782 with a deck and blade and he backed out. so now i'm back to really considering that 100. so i guess i just need to talk to the guy more and figure out what he really wants for it. it's a great looking tractor and has factory duals

I guess I should have asked sooner but just didn't think about it. Are you looking for a collector or a worker? A 100 is a very popular model among collectors. My bony ol' butt ain't mowing every week with one though.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
