As you have seen the road trip was a success. 285 miles round trip. Got to check out some of CAD's cool stuff. We rode up to Clifton Forge and picked up the goods. Stopped for Pizza on the way home and went our separate ways. CAD posing for pics LOL. It's a 149, needs a little TLC but the engine runs good no smoke or bad sounds. Got all the manuals and original paperwork. I'm Happy Happy Happy

Sam,

I saw that tractor with all it's implements about two Decembers ago. It was setting at a house with weeds growing up around it. I stopped several times at the house to make an offer, but no one would come to the door - crazy! I walked over and looked at the tractor and saw it had a 3 point hitch and the cover over the hump was off and the guy was fumbling with the hydro lines. Also noticed the tiller and sickle bar.

Not long after that the tractor disappears and it looked like the person that owned it moved out. Probably a good thing as I'm up to my ears in tractors - LOL!

You will like that tractor! Hydro drive and hydro lift. I consider (as if I have a clue) the 149 as one of the best tractors IH ever made.

Looking forward to some pics and a thread on the refurb/rebuild of this tractor.

Good luck,
Bill

Bill

I'm going to take my time on this one. Other things to finish first. Tiller needs new tines. I think the guy I bought it from probably bought it from the guy that you mentioned, he hasn't had it long. I want to see if the Haban will fit on my 1641. I'd like to setup the 149 for tiller only duty. Good thing is that everything turns nice and free. I'll go through all of it before I run it.

Nice score! Congrats!

Careful Sam, you'll end up like me with too many "projects".
Oh well, you retired guys have all the time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
