Juniors1282-

Are those the stock rear rims? If so, they are 8.5" wide. There were no CC rims wider than 8.5".

They are stock. I think all the 82's and similar model's had 10' rims. A friend of mine just went through this. He bought a set from Rich Patton and they were 8.50" wide he had to take them back and get the 10" rims from Rich. Not sure what all models had them, I know that the super's use the same width rim but the offset is differant. I don't think you would have much luck putting 12" wide tires on an 8.50" rim.

They are 8.5" wide. I'll say it again...there are no 10" rims for a Cub Cadet. The supers use 8.5" rims with a different offset. The 8.50 tires go on a 7" rim, 10.50s and 12s go on an 8.5" rim.

Rim width is measured between the edges where the beads seat, not the overall width.

Hey how's it going everyone!!!!

My good buddy Matt G. is absolutely correct about the tire and rim sizes and also about the rim size that was used on the Cub Cadet Super Garden tractor. Reason being, that my OL' Girl is using rims from the Super Garden tractor series. Just like Matt G. stated on his reply, they are 12x8.50 inches wide with a wheel hub offset known as "Heavy Offset". The 12x8.50 inch wide rim will easily accommodate a 26x12x12 tire with no problems what so ever. The rear wheels on my OL' Girl are 12x8.50 Super Garden Tractor wheels with the Heavy Offset on the wheel hubs. The tires that I'm using with these wheels, are 26x12x12 4 ply Firestone Flotation 23 ag tires. The tires are a little wide for plowing,I will admit that. But it still gets the job done anyway.lol

Here are some pics of the wheel and tire setup that I'm using:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
