got some shop time today while working on our semi trucks today. had to send a guy for parts today and while he was gettin them i worked on the 72.
first i cleaned the key switch off, it had alot of overspray on it from the former owners neon yellow he painted the 72. next i welded and ground down the bottom clutch cover. then i worked on the top clutch cover, mesh on one end was missing a large piece so i welded a piece of very thin metal under it .welded a washer on top where the screew hole is and filled in the rest with the welder. then ground smooth and drilled the holes to look like the mesh, just like new. finnally i needed a grill but after thinking about it i decided to make my own because its gonna be a worker and in the woods and such plus i was bored. so every time i see a grill on the curb i stop and pick up the grates in them. they come it so handy in more then one project i'v done. i measured the vertical and horizantal top and bottom, then split the diff and cut with saz-all. you can see from the pics that it worked out good. plus its free, which is a plus, im not cheap but im frugale lol. hope ya'll like the update and pics, we all love pics lol. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
