Thumbs up

That 106 will be nice when done! There is a wealth of information, and a friendly group of enthusiast. I have seen a lot of nice examples of repairing and painting these garden tractors, hope to see the 106 as well!

The AF sounds like a good experience. I know of a few people who are part of. My co-workers son just went this past August, started out a 2 star. The other was my girlfriend, who joined and never looked back,

edit: Looks good! Some nice sealed paint even yet. Paint prep don't look too hard! Thanks for sharing.

You are right into the tear down on the 106. Looking forward to pictures of it coming back together. My son has ours and I am considering bringing it home for a engine overhaul. These tractors will do a lot of work.
Thanks for your service in the Air Force too!
Regards,
Chris

I'm going to try to avoid tearing into the engine to much. It runs like a champ right now, or at least it did before I yanked the engine out. Just some preventative stuff, replacing parts that look like crap, painting the covers, and replacing the muffler I may or may not have snapped off when I leaned on it by accident after a few bottles of encouragement.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
