Wow Alvy! That is one of the nicest, green stripe 108 I have seen yet! For some reason, I don't see too many of those garden tractors. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this was the first model IH started to use the black paint starter generators on. I'll be darn, heck of a nice tractor!

I also, believe the model 72, and 73 are a very rare model of IH Cub Cadet garden tractor. These were the ONLY two model tractor to use this style dash tower. Unlike the Cub Cadet { later became known as the Original } built from 1961 - 1963, and the 70/100, and along with the model 71 from the 1x2/1x3 series garden tractors that; all used the specific dash tower for a longer period of time. It is my personal feelings that models 108, 109, 72, and 73 can be considered rare. I try not to spread a lot of b/s, and most always have something positive to comment on. I'm not in to childish debate, but adult only. ![]()

Feel free to hijack away guys and thanks for the kind words. I'm learning a lot about these things every day. I'm in assembly mode of my 73 fix up and to learn about the 108 being another rarer one is pretty cool. Yeah it's missing the starter generator and air filter/cover too.
And yes my dad knows a guy who's coming to Florida in November with a trailer and I have to travel about an hour and a half to get it but that's nothing compared to the 22 hours it will take to get down here. My dad is coming to Florida too like he does every year but has already committed to bringing down one of those backwards trike looking motorcycles in a trailer. I'm super excited to see it in person and always good to learn more about a series that's new to me. It's harder to find old cubs down here in FL and if I have to import them from back home I will do it! Thanks everyone for the words and info.

Well I got to pick up the 108 this past Sunday. Had to drive almost 2 hours but well worth it since it was "imported" from NY.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
