I'm running a Gates belt on my tiller..... Paid $30.35..... And I bought a pulley for my gearbox... bout $30 shipped off ebay. So, I dunno.. I'd say on my end, price was about the same. Your call! Just need to decide which tractor and which pulley you have. Then, mate the right pulley to the tractor. Like I said, I wouldn't be afraid of that pulley... but if it scares you, replace it!

I haven't decided on a tractor to put this on yet..
It will make a difference, if you decide to install this on the 82 Series Tractors, cause that pulley went to accommodate the 5/8" belt and is a different part number.

Thanks guys!! I have a lot to learn about running a tiller on my cubs. I've had one for a couple of years and never had the chance to set it up and now I have acquired another one and have cause to do so even more. I wonder when they will come up with the 25 hour day?

So, if I wanted to run the gearbox and tiller on my 782, then would this pulley work in that application (for my bottom pulley on my tiller gearbox)?

Thanks,

Yes, it will. I bought that exact one and have had no issues. Its not as thick as the original, so less contact with the key..... but so far I haven't twisted my shaft.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
