There are a lot of different theory's of this. I've plowed with a model 70 with 8.5's with no problems except the diff getting caught up. Traction was never really a problem.

I totally agree.

The outer tire tends to not even touch the ground. No help with traction. More a weight thing. Or a neat/cool factor.

or build a sweet onland plow and run duals on both tires and be the boss of the plow day.

With my old 806, when it starts to slip a bit, the inner wheel digs in somewhat, then the outer duel is on the ground picking up the load and it helps with traction and stops the slipping. (Only run duel on non furrow side while plowing)
I can't load the outside duals, as lifting near #1000 is not accomplished manually, I would have to use the loader tractor.
But I do see a good benefit of using duals, especially when disking (both wheels are dueled) as it provides more floatation and less wheel slip occurs, if any.
I also use duals on the JD 730 when pulling the planter, as it produces less compaction and a more even planting depth.
Yes, I'm talking a bit larger operation here, but the principles are the same.

Haha I like this. It looks like my tractor after following both a Kubota and a John Deere with 12 inch plows that were plowing really deep.
