Anybody know how to identify the snow blower that came with my 149 (pictures below)? It is model no. 8-24560 and s/n 426420. I can't find a make/brand label on it anywhere. I tried searching for the model number with no luck.

Nice find and nice tractor, you'll love it! My favorite tractor.

Just curious, did you get that from Beverage Tractor in Stuarts Draft? I was over there yesterday looking at Kubotas with my brother-in-law and the salesman said he just sold a cub with a snow blower. He didn't know what model it was.

Yes, that's the tractor. I saw the tractor on ebay, but the ebay picture showed it with the mower deck on it and didn't mention the snow blower. When I called to ask about it, they said it included the snow blower, so I figured it was a different tractor. But it's the same one shown on ebay with the mower deck. I can tell because of the mismatched front tires, so I know it's the same tractor. I think the ebay listing is still up, or at least it was this morning.

Nice score on the 149! I am a huge fan of the 149. I just bought my second earlier this month.
I had a similar problem with my hydro lift lever. A pin either wore out or fell out on mine. Here's a diagram from the Cub Cadet parts page. You will probably have to remove the fuel tank to see in there, but you may need a 1/8 x 1 coiled pin.
I replaced mine with a bent nail in a hurry a while ago. Some time I'll repair it correctly.

That is not an IH Cub Cadet snow thrower. I don't know what it is from, but somebody seems to have made it work on the 149. Good luck with it and post some more pictures of the blower and how it has been adapted to the 149.

Flatbedford, thanks. I looked up that same diagram last night, and figured it was a pin or something missing. I'll get to it in a few days. I have to take the snowblower chute off to open the hood more than a couple inches.

Somebody put a lot of time and energy into adapting that snowblower, but they did a workmanlike job, and it seems to work, though I've got no snow here in central Virginia to "test" it on.

Of course, I might discover that it doesn't work for some reason when I go to use it, and that may be why it was for sale. The way winters are here, it may be a year or two before we get enough snow to try it on. You probably got some white stuff up there.

With the hydro lever, I switched mine out to the later quiet line style after I broke that pin a couple of times. The quiet line ones clamp onto the handle and hold up a little better

Here are some pictures of how the snowthrower is installed. Still no evidence of make or mfg. of this unit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
