The trailer I'm towing has 5 foot HD steel ramps, 3x1/4 channel iron sides, with channel slats in the middle for the tractor to drive on. I plan to just build extensions out of 2.5x1/4 channel iron to slide inside the other ramps to make them say, 8-9 feet long.
Dont have a harbour freight around here. and I wouldnt trust a 1300 pound tractor on anything built by them anyway! Thanks for the compliments on the truck. Full build can be seen here http://oldihc.org/truck-talk/1000-se...he-right-place

I refuse to use ramps that are not strapped to the truck, doing anything else is just asking for trouble. I have had too many close calls.

I ALWAYS ALWAYS use Staging Planks for ramps... They are Spruce 2 x 10, a True 2" thick. They are traditionally used for staging in the air, but work great for ramps. I don't trust anything else. Check it out... It is about $25 for a 16' board around my neck of the woods and it will save a lot of $$ in the long run.

Glad your OK this is what Happened to me this past summer.
Me and cub1782 was test fitting our cubs or his f-350 flatbed to make sure They both would fit when we go to the fair Saturday .Well Logan loaded his up and then I loaded the 1450.Well everything seemed like it was going to fit real well so I went to back it off and both ramps slid out from under me.The 1450 went @$$ end first on the ground the in went on its side.With me on it. Here is what happened to the nose after I flipped it.Every thing else seems to be ok .I just rolled it back over cranked it up and drove it out of the ditch.Put another nose on it and still got to repaint the nose.

Glad you were not hurt, those boards had to be flexing. That tractor could have crushed your chest in. I've had my share of close calls, too. I'am looking into a trailer to advoid truck loading all togeather. The ramps I currently have are 2x12 with a 2x4 bolted underside and seem to hold up, BUT I dont realy trust those. The IH Truck looks great, and with the load of IH Tractors forsure! Thanks for sharing the mis-hap with the forum.

I would never even put an old cub in a pickup bed,trailers are the safe way to move these heavy old machines.

Really enjoyed the thread on your truck...I'm going to have to spend some more time reading it. You have a good cub hauler! Maybe some D ring tie downs in that bed would be good.
