If you clean it for him, do NOT use brake cleaner. High temperatures turn the brake cleaner into phosgene gas and can cause permanent lung damage or death.

If you have a handheld mig gun ( 2 lb spool ), you can MIG it with a different inert gas. ( straight argon? )

I've also stick welded aluminum but you better be good. The aluminum stick "burns" extremely quickly and requires preheating to well over 350*F with a torch.

oh yes, I know about phosgene gas, same thing you get when halogenated refrigerants burn. been doing refrigeration for 20 years. I once had to crawl out of a small room, lit the torch to fix a leak and there was still enough in the air I could not breath. drug the torch out with me and sucked on the oxygen side for 20 minutes. came real close to passing out that time it hit me so fast, always had a fan with me after that one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
